My journey into art started very early, officially at the age of 13, when I took my first drawing classes at the atelier of sculptor Branko Tijanic. Later on, I decided to study banking instead of art and in 2006, I become a banker. While the studies went on I was working as a freelance graphic designer. After graduation I moved to America where I was accepted in an MFA program in Integrated Design at University of Baltimore.
In March 2010, I started teaching at Westwood Collage discovering that teaching is more challenging than working in the industry. It's not just that you have to keep up with technology, which is definitely demanding, but also you have to find the way to transfer knowledge to group of students who, the first time, are facing changeless of todays turbulent market. Comparing to myself, I learnt print design first, than gradually moved into the video production and web design but today, students have to grasp everything in one take.
As teacher and designer, I think that future of design is in the good understanding of the technology. You can not be good web designer if you don't understand technology behind that will bring your web site to life. On other hand I believe that emphasis must be on traditional techniques too. After all, drawing is yet another way of thinking that can offer possibilities computers lack of.
